EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in Economics with a specialization in Risk Management from the Universidad Panamericana in Mexico City and a Master's degree in Finance from the University of Alcalá in Spain.

EXPERIENCE

Juan Carlos is an experienced professional in Private Equity and Financial Advisory, with a diverse and distinguished career in different fields. His most recent experience is highlighted by his position as Director and Head of Alternative Investments at Afore Citibanamex, a leading pension fund in Mexico with approximately $55 billion in assets under management. In this role, he was responsible for portfolio construction, fund selection, and structuring and executing private equity investments through local and international funds and co-investments.
Previously, Juan Carlos served as Portfolio Manager of Alternative Investments at Afore XXI-Banorte, the largest pension fund in Mexico, with over $65 billion in assets under management. In this position, Juan Carlos was responsible for private equity and private credit strategies. Additionally, he has served as a non-executive board member of more than 40 publicly traded investment vehicles (CKDs/CERPIs).

PRACTICE

Juan Carlos has held key positions in various fields, highlighting his experience as corporate treasurer at a retail company. His career also includes a key role at the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit, where he served as a financial regulator, responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance and managing financial risk, thereby contributing to the stability and security of the financial system.
Juan Carlos's dedication to the financial industry is reflected in his commitment as co-founder of the CAIA Latin American Chapter and his position as CAIA National Director for Mexico.
Juan Carlos currently serves as the Independent Chairman of the Board of Directors of CHM Compliance S.A.P.I. de C.V.
